Who is Anne Hathaway?

Whether it’s playing Shakespeare in the film adaptations of his plays, or being the face of the cult favorite Star Wars, Anne Hathaway has made a name for herself in Hollywood. Her enviable career has seen her receive many awards, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. She was also among the world’s highest-paid actresses in 2015.

Early life

During the early life of Anne Hathaway, she lived in a small town called Shottery, located near Stratford-upon-Avon, England. Her father was a farmer. Her mother was an actress. She had two brothers, Michael and Thomas. Her sister, Judith, married vintner Thomas Quinney. In November 1616, Judith gave birth to her first child, a son, named Shakespeare Quinney.

After high school, Anne Hathaway went to Vassar College, where she studied political science and English. She also studied dancing and martial arts. She did not complete her degree, however. She began her acting career as a stage actress.

When she was a teenager, Anne Hathaway moved to New Jersey with her siblings. She studied English and political science, and she played soccer. She was a good athlete, and she became a member of various acting schools. However, her parents were not very encouraging. They did not want their daughter to work in the entertainment industry.

Marriage to William Shakespeare

Almost four hundred years ago, Anne Hathaway and William Shakespeare were married. The marriage was a long one and resulted in three children. One daughter, Susanna, was born in 1583 and the others were twins Judith and Hamnet. The marriage was a love match and a hark back to the Renaissance.

When William and Anne were married, Anne was only a few years older than her husband. This was not uncommon for a woman in the Tudor era. Tudor brides wore the best clothes and were crowned with a garland of herbs.

While Anne Hathaway was no match for her husband, she did manage to outlive him. William Shakespeare died in 1616. The two were buried in the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford. The couple had a large family in Warwickshire and grew up just miles apart.

William Shakespeare left his second-best bed to his wife. He also left her a third of his estate.

Film roles

During her time on the screen, Anne Hathaway has been cast in a wide variety of roles. She has appeared in comedies, dramas, and musicals. Some of her notable roles include her performance as the White Queen in Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, as well as her portrayal of a free-spirited woman with Parkinson’s disease in “Love and Other Drugs”.

Anne Hathaway first began her acting career on television. She was cast in the family drama “Get Real” in 1999, which was also her first big break. Her parents were reluctant to allow their daughter to enter the entertainment industry, but Hathaway wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps. She attended Vassar College, where she studied English and political science. She had also appeared in school plays.

In 2005, Anne Hathaway starred in her first leading role in “Brokeback Mountain.” She played a character named Lureen Newsome Twist. This film was based on a 1997 short story by Annie Proulx.
